The Borough administration is staffed with a Borough Manager, Borough Secretary and Treasurer who handle a wide range of responsibilities for the Borough. The office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Street Department
The
Street Department is staffed with 6 men who are responsible for maintaining
all Borough property. This includes streets, parks, parking lots, right-of-ways,
and buildings.
They perform many routine Borough services including: trash pick-up, snow removal, mowing, leaf pickup, bulk pick-up, as well as all maintenance functions required of a community that has 8 miles of roads, municipal parking lots, two parks and playgrounds.

The
Chief oversees a professional staff of ten full-time officers, ten
part-time and clerical personnel. In addition to Parkesburg Borough,
the department also provides police services to the boroughs of Atglen,
Honey Brook and Avondale through municipal agreements.
The Parkesburg Police Department provides both routine and special operations under the "Community Policing" based patrol concept. The department currently operates, in addition to patrol functions, a Criminal Investigation Unit, a Bike Patrol Unit, a Commercial Vehicle Inspection Unit, a Police K-9 Unit, a Traffic Safety Unit and a Community Policing/Public Relations Town Watch office. In addition to our police headquarters, the department utilizes fully equipped sub-stations in each of the contracted areas.
The
department will handle an estimated six thousand complaints, or calls
for service during calendar year 2007.

Parkesburg
Fire Company is the Borough's volunteer fire department. The company
responds to a variety of different calls, including dwelling fires,
vehicle accidents, automatic alarms and non-emergency calls. The
fire hall is located at 329 West First Avenue and can be reached
by calling 610-857-3232.
The
Borough maintains Minch Park which is a 10 acre park with
a pavilion with tables, two baseball fields, tennis courts,
basketball courts, football field, exercise area, swings
and other playground equipment for children of all ages.
The pavilion may be rented for special occasions. The Borough
is in the process of upgrading and adding to the park with
the addition of a volleyball court, an additional football
field, ball field upgrades, a playbuilders structure, walking
paths/nature trails, a gazebo, benches and a new parking
lot.
The
Borough utilizes its own street department for trash collection.
The fee for this service is billed quarterly in the amount of
$55 per quarter. Trash collection days are Thursday for the
South side and Fridays for the North side. We ask that trash
be put
out by 7:00 am for pick-up.
Grass
clippings and other yard waste is collected on Mondays during
the Spring, Summer and Fall. Please cut and bundle sticks into
3' foot sections for pick up.
In the
fall season leaves are vacuumed. Rake leaves into
the gutter for pick up.
The
Borough also recycles glass, aluminum, steel, bi-metal cans and
plastic. Collection day for recycling is Tuesday. In addition
to the bottles and cans, residents can drop off paper and cardboard
in the dumpsters parked in the Borough Hall lot.
Bulk
items will be collected for a
fee. The fee shedule is as follows:
Items
containing coolant (refrigerators, air conditioners, etc) --
$40.00 each
Items
which take two persons to pick-up (sofa, bureau, etc.) -- $25.00
each
Small
items (kitchen chair, end table, etc. ) -- $10 each
Residents
should call
the Borough Office during business hours to schedule a pick-up.
Please
do not bring clippings or trash of any kind to the Borough complex.
There are no facilities for dumping.
